CHRISTMAS TOWEL

Just for the Christmas I finished a guest room towel.                I cross stitched the frontside and sewed a nice fabric on the back.

MAGNIFICENT ROOSEVELT HOTEL

I love to drink cappuccino's and one of my favourite places in New Orleans,  is Teddy's Cafe in the Roosevelt Hotel. The Christmas decorations are gorgeous  and walking through the corridor feels like you are in a fairy tale.

THREE LITTLE DUCKS

A card for little Amarins, she likes singing very much, so I made this card for my sweet granddaughter.  First I made the drawing from the ducklings  and then did the stitching.

PRAY FOR PARIS

Ce soir, toutes mes pensées et ma solidarité  sont avec la France et les Français.

BLACKWORK

This is the first time I stitched in BACKWORK. It was very different then cross stitching.         I changed the colours scheme a bit, so it would coordinate better with our furniture. I sew the backwork on a cushion cover and it shows now on our sofa in the living room I am very happy with the result, it won't be the last time I do backwork, because  it was fun to do.

WEDDING

Two dear friends, Mark  from Scotland and Karen from Brasil got married last saturday in Scotland.  The wedding was in a castle and it was a traditional scottish wedding with a brazilian touch.  There was a piper, men in kilts and the brasilian flag and loads of beijos (kisses). MARK AND KAREN  I wish you both  a lifetime full of romance, happiness and prosperity together!!!!!!!!!!

THE GIRL ON A SWING

My New Orleans project is finished, finally.  It took a loads of hours stitching. Every time we relocate to another country I start with a new project.  This - Girl on a swing - is an oldie, actually from the nineties.  I bought the kit a long time ago in Holland and was on sale.  I think half price or so.                I have no idea what I gonna do with it, maybe a pillow, a bag or ?                   But one thing is for sure it will be a gift for  my granddaughter.                    And for now this - Girl on a swing - stays in a box with other finished projects.

A FOR AMARINS

A hugh for my grand daughter Amarins.  What can you do when she is so far a way, yes I cross stitched  a card with a hugging bear for her.  I see her regular via Skype, her smiles and all those lovely baby things but sometimes  you just want to kiss and hold her.  Sweet Amarins, love you.

AMARINS

Nijntje / Miffi is finished !!!                                    It was a gift for my first grand daughter AMARINS JULIA.           She was born in Utrecht the Netherlands which is also the birthplace of Nijntje / Miffi.                    My daughter Myrthe promised me, that she will buy a nice frame for the embroidery.

THE QUARTER STITCH

We found a wonderful new apartment in the CBD (Central Business District )of New Orleans. Our shipment hasn't arrived yet from Rio de Janeiro, therefore we have some rental furniture, the guest bedrooms are empty and there is not much to clean. I have a lot of time on my hands and that gives me great opportunity to explore the city.                        In the French Quarter I came across with a wonderful shop, a little paradise for me.                 They sell mostly yarns, but there are also loads of needle point and cross stitch materials.                The two ladies who run the shop are super sweet and helpful and made me very welcome.                               Just click on the link below and you will see fantastic pictures.                                                           http://www.quarterstitch.com

ALMOST FINISHED

This piece is almost finished.  We call this sweet little bunny Nijntje in dutch and  Miffi is the name in english or another language. The drawings are simple and in bright block colours. Nijntje / Miffi will be 60 years this year. http://www.miffy.com

AMANDA

Before we left Rio de Janeiro, I  cross stitched -young girl in the rain- and let it framed. It was a gift for Amanda the granddaughter of our neighbours. When I met Amanda for the first time she was a sweet baby and now 5 years later she is a lovely and beautiful girl. She  is very talkative  and never forgets to give you  hugs and kisses.            Dear Amanda you are one of the wonderful Brazilians I will always remember.

NEW ORLEANS

I know it is a while ago since my last post. We have moved to New Orleans and staying in a temporary apartment in the Business District.  The French Quarter, the River Walk shopping, museums, restaurants, cinema, theatre  all is in walking distance.  My husband walks to his work and he loves it. The people of Nola are so friendly and talkative. On one of my walks through town I came across with a lovely shop in the Roosevelt Hotel and  look what they sold a beautiful hand embroidered cushion cover. Maybe I buy it one day or stitch it myself.

GOODBYE WENDY

Two days before Christmas my golf friend Wendy left to Denver. I wish her and her 3 beautiful daughters and crazy and funny husband Jason and the dogs Tilly and Murphy a good life and great future back home. I will miss her chats about her passion for tattoos and her new discovered sport muy thai. I made her a farewell card and a embroidered hand towel to remember me and our lovely time on the golf course.         I love to cross stitch these towels it doesn't take much time and most of the people like them.
